Electric Vehicles – Automated Burn-In Tester

Situation

Bay Area company was looking for an automated production electrical tester for a charger/converter

Problem

Asynchronous Burn-in test of the component: AC: 415 V/3 Ph/24 A and 240 V/1 Ph/72 A and DC: 400 V/54 A while maintaining product under test at 60 deg C.

ODI Role

Designed and built automated Tester with 32 test bays including

  • 6-axis Robot on a track for pick and place
  • Custom automated connectors for AC, DC and fluids.
  • Fluid delivery and thermal management
  • High Power AC and DC electrical enclosure
  • Robot, PLC and HMI software
